Workout Plate Calculator (Barbell Loading)
Enter your target total weight and what plates you actually have. You’ll get plates per side.
If an exact match isn’t possible, you’ll get the closest lower and closest higher options.
Counts are total plates you own (not per side). The tool uses pairs (left/right).

How do you calculate plates per side?
Side load = (target total − bar weight) ÷ 2. Then we search for the best plate combination
that matches that side load using your inventory.
What if my plates are limited or non-standard?
If no exact match exists, you’ll get the closest possible lower and higher options that your
inventory can build. If only one side is possible, you’ll see the closest overall.
Common bar weights
Most gyms: 20kg (men’s Olympic), 15kg (women’s Olympic). US standard: 45lb.
If your bar is different, just set it manually.
